With 19 years coaching experience, I have positioned myself to be able to understand a wide range of golf swings, techniques and habits.

I have vast experience of teaching with technology using Trackman launch monitors and video analysis. Being Trackman Level 2 and Swing Catalyst Certified.

I previously held an international coaching position in Dubai where I was solely dedicated to coaching for 4 years and during this time was delivering in excess of 200 lessons per month.

James Houghton - PGA Director of Golf

I joined Shaw Hill Golf Hotel & Spa in December 2025, moving from Topgolf Dubai at Emirates Golf Club. I have been a PGA Professional for 15 years, during which time I have had the opportunity to work at a range of facilities. My most recent post before moving to Shaw Hill Golf & Spa Hotel was at Topgolf Dubai from 2022 - 2025. The second busiest driving range in the world, welcoming over 700,000 visitors annually. There I was a Senior PGA Professional delivering only coaching sessions, averaging in excess of 200 hours per month of lesson delivery. I was previously the Head PGA Professional at Hurlston Hall Golf & Country Club from 2019-2022. Guiding the club through the difficulties of the COVID pandemic and revolutionising the retail/range/fitting at the club. I have vast experience as a club fitter, having held the post of Head of Custom Fitting at American Golf between 2013 - 2018. Responsible for the training process of the store staff and managing the order process from customer to store via the brands directly.  In 2025, I completed my PGA Director of Golf Qualification, becoming one of only 250 PGA Professionals worldwide to hold this qualification. Giving me a clear in-depth knowledge of the key elements of golf club facility management in; Golf Club Administration, Retail, Custom Fitting, High-Level Coaching with Technology, Golf Course Maintenance, Accommodation. Food & Beverage Operations & Event Management. My continuous drive to improve my knowledge and understanding of the industry motivates me each day in my ambition of being awarded PGA Master Professional status in the future.
